IT’S tax season – that’s not news but with that in mind, david bowman – a representative with the beaumont office of social security – has some important information for tax filers. first, david bowman said those receiving social security benefits should expect their 1099 tax form in the next few days.

again, social security is required to mail all 1099 forms before the last day of january, so those forms should arrive no latter than the first week of february. next, david bowman said tax filers need to make sure the name on their irs paperwork matches what is on their social security card.

those needing to change their name with social security must have an official name change document, such as a marriage license or a divorce CERTIFICATE. if it has been more than two years since the name change OCCURRED, individuals will also need an old IDENTIFICATION document. once more, social security’s david bowman said those on social security benefits who have not received their 1099 form by early february should call the BEAUMONT office to request a copy of that IMPORTANT document. the direct toll-free number for the beaumont social security office is 866-613-2864. for online help, go to www.kshn.com and click on the government tab for the social security link.
