another important appointment for john otto – state representative from dayton. he has been appointed to chair the house select committee on fiscal stability by Speaker of the House Joe Straus. that committee will assess Texas' ability to meet its current and future budget obligations. the lawmakers will also analyze whether a potential budget shortfall is due to the current recession alone or more systemic problems. the committee includes 12 other house members from across texas. when announcing the appointment, speaker straus said The Texas House of Representatives is taking a comprehensive approach to solving the possible budget shortfall in a time of reduced revenue. joe straus said that he is confident with Representative Otto's leadership and knowledge of these issues. concerning the current economic condition in texas, rep. otto said while many states are in the red, Texas has remained fiscally sound. john otto said This interim study will help identify how the state can remain that way by examining the current economic situation with an understanding of how texas weathered previous economic downturns. rep. john otto of dayton will lead these efforts as chair of the house select committee on fiscal stability.
