County Judge Candidate Debate

Mark your calendars - the Liberty County Republican Party is hosting a debate with the three candidates for county judge. That’s set for Thursday, February 1, at 6:30 p.m. at the Log Cabin on Peach Street in Cleveland. We’ve reported the March 6 Republican primary race for county judge features three men who have held that position. Incumbent Judge Jay Knight of Dayton is challenged by two former county judges – Phil Fitzgerald of Moss Hill and Craig McNair of Dayton. There are no Democrat candidates for county judge. Republican Party Chair Ryan Daniel said Liberty County is entering a time of tremendous growth. He said it’s the local Republican Party’s responsibility to help educate the electorate as they prepare to choose who will lead the county through this time. Mr. Daniel said – quote – “our county judge should be an individual who values fiscal responsibility, especially as we continue to grow,” – end quote. He said the Liberty County Republican Party looks forward to hearing from the three candidates for county judge and anticipates a well-attended event where people countywide can hear the individual visions that the candidates have for the county for the next four years. Again, that Liberty County Republican Party debate featuring the three candidates for county judge will be Thursday, February 1, at 6:30 p.m. at the Log Cabin, 201 Peach Street in Cleveland.
