Home Invasion

A Houston juvenile is in custody and another person is being sought in connection with an armed home invasion Monday afternoon in the City of Cleveland. According to information from Cleveland Police Chief Darrel Broussard, the female victim reports three people came to her house on South Franklin Street asking to borrow money. As the three were leaving, they reportedly took two bicycles from her yard. After discovering the bikes were missing, the girl’s boyfriend and brother left the residence in an attempt to locate the missing property. A short time later, the female heard a knock at the door. Before fully opening the door, she says two males physically pushed it open, rushed inside and placed a gun to her head. As one of the intruders stood over her holding a gun, the other gathered property from inside the home before the duo fled the residence. The victim called Cleveland Police Department around 3:15 p.m. Monday. Cleveland Police Sgt. David Edwards spotted a male matching the description of one of the intruders in high brush and weeds near Parkhurst Avenue and Williams Street. After setting up a perimeter, Cleveland police detained a 16-year-old male juvenile who was in possession of a loaded .22 caliber pistol. Officers continued to search the area, but no other arrests were made. After further investigation, the Houston teenager was transferred to a certified juvenile detention center where, at last report, he was still in custody. Cleveland Police Chief Darrel Broussard said officers believe they know the identity of the other individual involved in Monday’s armed invasion of a home on South Franklin Avenue in the City of Cleveland. Anyone with information is asked to call the Cleveland Police Department at 281-592-2622 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-392-7867.
