3 dead, 1 charged following boat wreck

The names of those killed in the Chambers county Sunday boat accident have been released. At approximately 7:31 p.m. Sunday the Chambers County Sheriff's Office received a call of a boat wreck approximately half a mile from the Hugo Park Road boat ramp in the area of Old and Lost River and Cross Bayou. The caller stated there were numerous injuries and persons in the water. Deputies, Fire and EMS were dispatched to the scene and Texas Parks and Wildlife were notified.  Preliminary investigation reveals a large wake boat type vessel struck a bass boat. There are at least two confirmed deceased at the scene. Others were transported via life flight and ground ambulance with critical injuries. Houston media is now reporting the victims have been identified as Laura Kay Grant, 48, of Mont Belvieu, and William Robert Bowles, 36, of Baytown. Officials said three of those who were injured were in critical condition and had to be transported via Life Flight. Zachary Jackson Miles, 29 of Beach City, was among the critically injured and was taken to Memorial Hermann, where he later died. Five others with non-life threatening injuries were also reported. According to the Chambers County Sheriff's Office, Jacob Vernon Breaux was arrested and charged with three counts of intoxication manslaughter and two counts of intoxication assault. State Game Wardens from Texas Parks and Wildlife are leading the investigation and remain on scene handling the investigation with the assistance of the Chambers County Sheriff’s Office.
