County clerk on new voting system

We have reported on the new voting machines recently purchased by Liberty County Commissioners. Those new machines will get their first use on the upcoming May 4th city and school elections. Liberty County Clerk Lee Haidusek Chambers said while the technology at work in the new voting system is quite different from previous applications, the experience for voters will not change very much. She said the plan is to hold one or more mock elections to give the public a chance to see the voting equipment in action before the real voting begins. Early voting in the May 4th city and school elections is Monday April 22nd through Tuesday April 30th. Hours and locations will vary but early voting in both the Liberty City Council General and Special Elections, plus the Ames City Council Election will be at the Hartel Building on San Jacinto in Liberty. Early voting in the Dayton City Council, Dayton School Board and Liberty County Emergency Services District #3 is all at the Dayton Community Center, 801 South Cleveland. For any questions about voting, call the Liberty County Clerk’s Office at 936 336 4670.
