Dayton city manager on transportation projects

One possible state transportation project discussed at the recent Houston Galveston Area Council of Governments public meeting held in Liberty involves widening FM 1960 in Dayton. We reported the 2045 Regional Transportation Plan meeting was held Tuesday January 29th at the Liberty Center in City Hall. Among the several potential projects proposed for Liberty County is the future project to widen FM 1960 to four full lanes. According to Dayton City Manager Theo Melancon, the FM 1960 project has a relatively high probability of being funded. He said the HGAC and Tx Dot also showed interest in the city’s plan to extend Waco Street to Hwy 321. The Dayton City Manager said the future of these proposed traffic projects will depend not just on whether funding is available for them, but also if the extension and widening of roadways is feasible in the selected locations.
