Rep. Babin files bill to protect communities, schools from violence

U.S. Congressman Brian Babin has reintroduced the bi-partisan TAPS Act designed to protect communities and schools from targeted violence. He is joined as a bill sponsor by Democratic U.S. Representative Val Demings, Republican Senator Marco Rubio, Democratic Senator Kyrsten Sinema and Republican Senator Thom Tillis. That bi-partisan piece of legislation is designed to ensure law enforcement, mental health professionals, and educators across the country can work together using a behavioral threat assessment and management system developed by the Secret Service to protect communities and schools against potential threats. Congressman Babin said he will do all he can to get the TAPS Act signed into law. He represents Texas District 36 in Washington, DC. That district includes Liberty and Chambers counties plus all or part of seven other counties in southeast Texas.
