Cleveland ISD athletic director resigns post

The Cleveland Independent School District is seeking a new athletic director and head football coach. Cleveland ISD Superintendent Dr. Darrell Myers said Keith Hendrix stepped down from that position Monday. However, Coach Hendrix continues to work for the district in other capacities. In the meantime, Coach Norris Taff is serving as interim athletic director. He is a Cleveland High School graduate with 34 years experience in education and coaching. During his four seasons leading the Cleveland Indians, Coach Keith Hendrix amassed a record of 8-31. This past season, Cleveland moved from Class 4A to Class 5A. We reported that is related to the massive growth taking place on the north end of the county. In their first year in Class 10-5A, Division II, the Indians were winless at 0-10 in a tough district. Cleveland’s eight-team district also includes Bryan Rudder, College Station A&M Consolidated, Huntsville, Katy Paetow, Montgomery, Montgomery Lake Creek and Rosenberg Lamar Consolidated. Once again, Keith Hendrix has stepped down as the Cleveland Indians’ athletic director and head football coach. Cleveland ISD is already accepting applications for his replacement.
