Liberty firefighters save man's life

Liberty Fire Fighters saved a sleeping man from smoke and flames at the man’s home Sunday night. Liberty Fire Chief Brian Hurst said his department was called to a home on Lawrence Street in Liberty around 10 p.m. last Sunday. A shed in back of the residence was fully involved in flames when fire fighters arrived. Chief Hurst said the fire had already moved from the shed to the interior of the home. With the fire burning in the living room of the residence, Liberty Fire Fighters entered the house and searched for occupants. Heavy smoke was billowing into the bedroom of the residence and smoke alarms were blaring, Liberty Fire Fighters Luke Hajovsky and Lindsey Pruitt located a man asleep and coughing. Liberty Fire Chief Brian Hurst said Bobby Faneros- thought to be in his 30s had been unaware of the fire until firefighters woke him and helped him from home. Chief Hurst said the fire was extinguished shortly thereafter with minimal fire damage to the home and no injuries.
