3 LISD campuses nominated for national award

The Flippin Group has nominated San Jacinto Elementary, Liberty Elementary and Liberty Middle School for a Capturing Kids Hearts National Showcase Campus award for the 2018-19 school year. Back in March of 2015, we reported the Liberty school board approved funding to implement the Flippin Group’s Capturing Kids Hearts program districtwide. This program is designed to improve relationships between Liberty ISD educators, students and their families with the goal of improving student academic performance. Since that time, teachers and staff have learned processes to connect students with their peers and adults on campus as well as ways to create classrooms where students are excited to enter and learn every day. Schools across the country are nominated for the Capturing Kids Hearts’ national award based on in-person observations plus the level of implementation of the program by all staff. The other criterion for this award is data that demonstrates the program has made significant improvement in attendance, discipline, climate or academics. Once all of that information is gathered, the Flippin Group will review all nominees and make their final selections. Last year, both San Jacinto Elementary and Liberty Middle School were named a Capturing Kids Hearts National Showcase School Campus.  Now comes word that San Jacinto Elementary, Liberty Elementary and Liberty Middle School have all been nominated for the national recognition for 2018-19 school year. Tom Connelly is principal at SJE while Stephanie Cox is the top administrator at LES. Rhoda Smith is principal at Liberty Middle School.
