52nd Annual Ag Finance Seminar is Tuesday

The 52nd Annual Ag Finance Seminar is tomorrow starting at 8:30 a.m. in the Winnie-Stowell Community Building. The event is hosted by the AgriLife Extension Service offices in Jefferson, Liberty and Chambers counties. Tyler Fitzgerald, extension agent in Jefferson County, said topics include rice and beef market outlooks as well as information on the new farm bill and how it will impact operations. Details on the farm bill will be presented by Dr. Joe Outlaw, a regents fellow, professor and extension economist in the Department of Agricultural Economics at Texas A&M University. According to the university, Dr. Outlaw also serves as the co-director of the Agricultural and Food Policy Center at Texas A&M. In this role, Dr. Outlaw frequently interacts with members of Congress and key agricultural committee staff to provide feedback on the likely consequences of agricultural policy changes.  His extension education and applied research activities are focused on assessing the impacts of farm programs, risk management tools, renewable energy, and climate change legislation on U.S. agricultural operations. Once more, the 52nd Annual Ag Finance Seminar is tomorrow from 8:30 a.m. to noon at the Winnie-Stowell Community Building in Winnie Park.
