Mother Abducts Child: A Chambers County women is behind bars after leading Deputies on a chase Christmas Eve. According to a press release from Chambers County Sheriff Brian Hawthorne at around 6 pm Deputies conducted a traffic stop on two vehicles near Fisher Road and State HWY 99 in regards to a child custody dispute. Sheriff Hawthorne said prior to the traffic stop, the mother of the child went into the home of the Childs father and took their 3 year old child. The father gave chase while calling the Chambers County Sheriff’s Office. At the traffic stop, deputies determined that the mother had in fact taken the child. Deputies tried to talk with the mother but she refused to get out of the car. With the unrestrained 3 year old still in the car the mother, identified as Trisha Leigh Plake, drove away from law enforcement. Deputies carefully followed mother and child. With an unrestrained child in the car, Deputies felt it important to bring the chase to a halt and did a box-in-maneuver to bring the vehicle to a controlled stop. Ms. Plake is charged with Interference with Child Custody, Burglary of a Residence, Evading Arrest or Detention with a Motor Vehicle, Abandon or Endanger Child, Possession of Marijuana, and Possession of a Controlled substance.
