Tony Munson Cross Country: The 36th Tony Munson Invitational was run last Saturday at Liberty Municipal Park. The meet had over 900 runners spread across over 40 teams. In the boys 5A/6A division Beaumont Westbrook took first place, 2nd Place went to Conroe Caney Creek, and in 3rd place was New Caney Porter. In the boys 4A and under division Liberty took 1st place honors, followed by Bay City in 2nd, and 3rd place went to Silsbee. In the girls 5A/6A division 1st place went to College Station, in 2nd place was Baytown Goose Creek, and Conroe Caney Creek took 3rd place. Turning to the girls 4A and under division 1st place honors went to Bridge City, in 2nd place were the Lumberton girls, and 3rd place 4A and under division was Bay City. The Liberty Girls finished in 5th place.

Law Enforcement Class: Liberty high school has a statewide distinction thanks to one man. Law Enforcement Instructor Terry Higginbotham told Liberty Rotarians at Tuesday’s meeting that of all the high schools in Texas, this is the only one where TDCJ will come and test the students for post graduation employment. Tuesday at the Liberty Rotary Club, Liberty High School Law Enforcement Teacher Terry Higginbotham brought two of his students, Lane Riley and Hector Lopez, now seniors who have spent their 4 high school years in his class. Mr. Higginbotham repeatedly said the two students were among Liberty High Schools very best. He told Rotarians these two students alone had more than 1500 hour of community service.

Women’s Health Fair: Saturday comes the much talked about Women's Health Fair at Liberty Dayton Regional Medical Center with FREE cancer screenings and health education for uninsured and underinsured women. This See, Test & Treat health fair for women also offers free screenings for both cervical and breast cancer. In addition, there will be available, for those who are underinsured or uninsured a Clinical breast exam and Mammogram. The women’s health fair is Saturday October 5th starting at 7:30 a.m. at the Liberty Dayton Regional Medical Center. All are welcome.
