Chambers County: A robbery in Chambers Co. ended in a high speed chase that ran through Liberty Co. before ending in Jefferson Co.. At around 3 Tuesday morning, the Chambers County Sheriff’s Office responded to a robbery at the Shell Station on FM 565, near I-10. Deputies arrived to find several subjects running from the store. Two subjects were able to make it to a vehicle and flee. A chase ensued and the chase eventually involved not only the Chambers County Sheriff’s Dept. but also the Mont Belvieu Police Dept., Dayton Police, Liberty County Sheriff’s Officers, and officers also from Jefferson County Sheriff’s Department. The vehicle was eventually disabled by spike strips and the two subjects were arrested in Jefferson County. In custody at that time were Jaden Shelton, 17, and Ladarious Toliver, 18, both of Houston. A third Houston youth, Alexander Decuier, 17, was arrested later. Sheriff Brian Hawthorne asks that if anyone has information about this or any other crimes to call the Sheriff’s Office at 409-267-2500 or Chambers County Crime Stoppers at 844-860-8477.
Avoiding Scams: We reported yesterday on some tips offered by the Liberty Police Department to help you avoid being scammed. Today we continue that series. Tips offered by police includes, don’t believe your caller ID. Technology makes it easy for scammers to fake caller ID information, so the name and number you see aren’t always real. If someone calls asking for money or personal information, hang up. If you think the caller might be telling the truth, call back to a number you know is genuine. Listen tomorrow on news for more tips from the Liberty Police Department.
Lady Hornets: Gerald Nixon, Hardin ISD Superintendent, recently told that athletics at Hardin are off to a great start in 2019. The Hornet Football team has a 2-1 record and the volleyball team is on fire. The Lady Hornets are undefeated in district and ranked 4th in all of Texas 3A in the Texas Girls Coaches Association Poll. The Hornet football team is off this week while the Lady Hornets played Kirbyville last night in Hardin.
