Shooting: Liberty City Police are investigating an incident where two victims walked into Wal-Mart in Liberty about 9 p.m. Sunday night saying they had been shot. Police are trying to determine where the shooting occurred. Liberty Police Lt. Chip Fairchild said one man was shot in the shoulder. The other had a grazing wound to the head. The more critical of the two was taken by Life Flight to Memorial Hermann Hospital in Houston in stable condition. Later a 3rd victim, this one with a gun shot wound to the foot, was identified. See a video interview with Liberty Police Lt. “Chip” Fairchild in our news section at the bottom of our website front page.

Burn Ban: Liberty Co. Judge Jay Knight ordered a burn ban for Liberty Co. for 90 days. State drought conditions monitored using the Keetch-Byram Drought Index. That’s based on the daily water balance in soil. The index ranges from 0 to 800, with higher numbers representing a greater risk for fire. As of late yesterday, Liberty Co. was at 673 on the index. Again a burn ban is in effect for Liberty County.

Youth Rodeo: Trinity Valley Exposition events have already begun, believe it or not. Right now, they are accepting signups for the upcoming Youth rodeo. Committee Chair Deana Favors said books are open now through midnight September 16th for those who would like to enter. For more information link to the TVE website from KSHN.COM.

Panthers Cross Country: The Panther boys and Lady Panther Varsity cross country teams traveled to Galveston for the Galveston Island Beach Run hosted by Ball High School. Cross Country head coach Joe Roberts told us both Liberty teams, in the class 4A ranks, represented Liberty well. Boys finished 8th overall in a mostly 5A/6A field. Liberty was the top 4A, or smaller team, of 21 Schools. The Panthers go to Dayton Saturday for the Bronco Inv.
