Liberty DL Office: The Texas Department of Public Safety driver license office in Liberty is reportedly temporarily closed. Liberty County Judge Jay Knight said he was notified last week on Wednesday, June 12, that the office would shut down two days later on Friday, June 14. Both Judge Knight and DPS Sgt. Eric Burse said the closure is related to a staffing shortage. We are told the department is working to fill the staffing vacancies and plans to reopen the Liberty office as soon as possible. They estimate that will occur sometime this fall. The Cleveland driver license office remains open weekdays from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. at 304 Campbell Street. The Baytown driver license office is at 5420 Decker Drive. It is open 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. most weekdays, but is open until 6 p.m. on Tuesdays.
