Courthouse Closed Today: The Liberty County Courthouse and all county offices will be closed today in honor of Texas Independence Day. On the other hand, all municipal offices in Liberty, Dayton and Cleveland will remain open. In addition, banks and post offices will be open today. Garbage service will also run as scheduled today in Liberty, Dayton and Cleveland.

Galloway Recognized: Five of the region’s public officials are being recognized today at an annual luncheon of the University of Houston Master of Public Administration Program. Among this year’s honorees is Baytown Emergency Management Coordinator Jamie Galloway. He formerly served as the fire chief and emergency management coordinator for the city of Liberty. The UH program honors outstanding public officials who provide a positive influence on the ideals of public service.

Freedom Ride: The Liberty Freedom Ride benefiting the Liberty ISD Education Foundation is set for Saturday, April 13. Foundation Coordinator Bruce Wright said there are five distances for bicyclists with routes covering 20, 37, 50, 64 and 74 miles. The non-profit Liberty ISD Education Foundation was established in 2007 to fund innovative teaching ideas on the district’s four campuses that go beyond the district’s operating budget. Houston Methodist Baytown: Houston Methodist Baytown Hospital officially opened the new state-of-the-art Outpatient Clinic on February 25. Houston Methodist Baytown CEO said they were excited to be able to offer comprehensive outpatient services at one convenient location.
