Case Management System: Liberty County Commissioners Court approved the purchase of a new $1.4 million electronic case management system from a company named Tyler Technologies during Tuesday’s regular meeting. Officials say the software system will better integrate law enforcement, prosecutors and the courts to more efficiently handle criminal cases. This new electronic case management system will be used throughout Liberty County in the offices of the county clerk, district clerk, county attorney, district attorney and sheriff. It also involves the 253rd District Court, the 75th District Court, the County Court at Law plus the County Court that adjudicates juvenile cases and handles probates. In addition to the $1.4 million purchase price, there will be yearly recurring charge of $339,860 for service and management of the system.
Longoria Retirement: The community is invited to a retirement reception this Thursday for a veteran peace officer. Frank Longoria has served in area law enforcement for 26 years, most recently with Liberty PD. Frank has retired after some serious health issues. The retirement party is Thursday from 3 to 5 p.m. at the Liberty Center in City Hall. The public is encouraged to stop by and wish Frank Longoria well in his retirement.
Contreras’ Book: New Work Family Worship Center Pastor Chris Contreras has released a new book titled “Skunk Dogs, Weep Holes and Other Preposterous Things”. It’s a small collection of humorous stories meant to impart a spiritual message. The 55-page book is available from Amazon for $6.99.
Casino Trip: Next month’s Coushatta Bus Trip sponsored by the Liberty-Dayton Area Chamber of Commerce has been set for Thursday, March 21. In order to meet the necessary deadlines with the casino, reservations for this luxury bus trip need to be confirmed right away. The price is unchanged at $15 round trip.
