HGAC Planning: About 40 people attended the Houston-Galveston Area Council of Governments public meeting last Tuesday at the Liberty Center. A panel of experts discussed projects in the long-range planning phase, future air quality issues and traffic conformity. Liberty City Manager Tom Warner said many projects directly affecting the Liberty-Dayton area were discussed, even though it remains to be seen if funding will be available for those local projects. It addition to an expansion of S.H. 146 to four lanes through Liberty from U. S. 90 to roughly the Featherstone Subdivision, Mr. Warner said several projects specific to Dayton also made the list of potential future highway construction. The Dayton projects include the long-hoped for overpass over Hwy 90 at the railroad tracks as well as the possible extension of Waco Street to Hwy 321.
