Separation: After 6 years at the helm of the Dayton Community Development Corporation, Courtland Holman and the DCDC Board of Directors are discussing his separation from that tax funded entity. Monday morning, Dayton Community Development Corporation Attorney Mike Fielder called the pending separation a mutually agreeable situation. Dayton City Manager Theo Melancon is interim director.

Boot and Bullets: The 4th Annual Boots and Bullets Cook Off, Auction and Dance will be this Saturday -January 26th at the Dayton Community Center. It’s an event that benefits the Dayton Volunteer Fire Department with money to help fund training and equipment. Dayton City Council Member Alvin Burris is also a longtime Dayton Volunteer Fire Fighter. The fundraiser starts at 7 a.m. with the Gumbo and Chili Cook Off. The dance with live music from the West of the Trinity Band and Southern Breeze starts at 6 p.m. The evening also includes Silent and Live Auctions. All the money raised benefits the Dayton Volunteer Fire Department. There are different reservation packages available. Men’s Health Fair: The Liberty Dayton Regional Medical Center is hosting the free Annual Men’s Health Fair this Saturday January 26th from 8 a.m. to noon. The event began several years ago with a prostrate screening clinic co-sponsored by the hospital and KSHN Radio. In recent years, more free services have been added to give men more potentially life saving information about their health. The Liberty Dayton Regional Medical Center’s CEO Matt Thornton said no appointment is needed to attend the Men’s Health Fair. In addition to the DRE and PSA blood tests for Prostate Screening, the Men’s Health Fair will provide a number of other blood and blood pressure tests, all free of charge.
