Liberty Special Election: The candidate filing period for the Liberty City Council Special Election started Wednesday, and so far, only one person has filed to run for that vacant city council seat. William Neal Thornton is an official candidate to fill the unexpired term of Paul Glazener who resigned. Mr. Thornton was one of 10 people who turned in applications for a possible appointment to that council seat. While those 10 citizens answered the Liberty council’s call for applicants, council members chose instead to call a special election. Candidate filing information is available at Liberty City Hall during business hours and on the city’s website - link there from kshn.com. For info, call Liberty City Hall at 936-336-3684.
