Goodman Contract: At their meeting on Monday July 16th, Dayton Council heard a presentation from the Goodman Company. Dayton City Manager Theo Melancon said the firm has a great track record in locating and procuring infrastructure funding for their clients. He said the Goodman Company can bring the city millions in infrastructure money from national and state grant funds plus other resources more efficiently than the city could on its own. Dayton Council members agreed to contract with the Goodman Company. Dayton City Manager Theo Melancon said City Council is still exploring whether the $187,000 cost of contracting with Goodman could be shared with the Dayton Community Development Corporation.
New Service: First Liberty National Bank is taking a forward approach by giving customers an extra 2 hours in which to make deposits or payments and have them credited to that business day. Bank President Kelly Stretcher said starting August 1, that’s this Wednesday, transactions posted before 6 p.m. will now be credited that day. FLNB President Kelly Stretcher said the bank lobby and drive through hours remain the same, but transaction processing will have two extra hours.
DVFD Golf: The Dayton Volunteer Fire department is accepting sign ups for the 1st four-man scramble golf tournament. Firefighter Spencer Templeton said the tourney is an important Dayton Fire Department fundraiser. The tournament is set for Saturday, September 29th at Eagle Point Golf Course in Mont Belvieu. Peace Officer Training: The Liberty County Sheriff’s Office will be hosting a Basic Peace Officer Academy through a curriculum from College of the Mainland. Classes will be held at the Liberty County Sheriff’s Office beginning on January 28, 2019. These will be night classes Monday through Friday 6pm to 10pm with some Saturday classes. Cadet applicants will be able to pick up application packets at the Liberty County Sheriff’s Office beginning August 27.
