Boomerang Growing: According to Ken Long, Boomerang General Manager, the company is planning a multi-million dollar expansion. He said while production at their Liberty Plant is close to peak once again, there are still challenges ahead. The Missouri based oilfield pipe manufacturer filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy in 2015. Following a financial reorganization, a company called Black Diamond Capital Management assumed majority control. When Boomerang officially emerged from bankruptcy on February 3rd 2016 that change in official control allowed the company to have enough operating capital to continue pipe production with adjustments based on market demand. New Medicare Cards: Social Security’s Andy Hardwick of the Houston Office said Medicare is discontinuing use of the social security number as identification. Medicare began mailing out the new cards in June. Andy Hardwick said Medicare is switching to a separate identification number for Medicare cards. Until then, the current cards can still be used. DISD Physicals: All DISD students who will be participating in school athletic programs in the coming school year need to have completed their physicals before they can practice. Girls who will be playing volleyball need to have their physicals done by August 1st, the first day of practice. Bronco Football Practice begins on August 6th and boys need their physicals completed before that. Total Care in Dayton will be providing athlete physicals free of charge on Wed. Aug. 1st at DHS.
Dayton Open House: About 45 people attended the last of a series of public open house events on the Dayton Downtown Revitalization plan Wednesday night. Dayton City Manager Theo Melancon said the response to the city’s plans for revitalization of their downtown area has been very positive.
