School Make-up Days: With record flooding from Hurricane Harvey and two full days of ice storm conditions, Liberty County school districts were closed for safety reasons. As far as making up those days that bad weather kept students out of school locally, officials at most Liberty County school districts say they won’t need to do any make up days. The lone exception is Hardin ISD. School officials there say there will be two make up days, February 16 and 19, which would normally be school flex days. The Liberty, Dayton, Cleveland, Devers, Hull Daisetta, and Tarkington school districts will not be required to hold make up days.

DISD Wall of Fame: The deadline is tomorrow for nominating a former professional employee of the Dayton school district to be included on the “Wall of Fame”. Established in 1999, the Dayton ISD “Wall of Fame” salutes educators who have contributed mightily to the education of youth in the district. To be eligible, nominees must have been a professional employee, including administrators, teachers, counselors, librarians and nurses. Nomination forms are available on the district’s website and during business hours at the administration building. Completed nomination forms should be turned in to Mary Ellen Conner in the district’s department of personnel services. Her email is maryellen.conner@daytonisd.net.
