TxDot: The Texas Department of Transportation announced a nearly $4 million project to restore State Hwy 61 in South East Liberty County. TxDot Public Information Officer Sarah Dupre said the project is part of an ongoing effort to improve safety and relieve traffic congestion. She said the work is on Hwy 61 and U.S. 90 where the two intersect. Conroe based Smith & Company Construction was awarded the construction contract and work is expected to be under way by the end this year.

Affordable Care Act: On November 15th, the second open enrollment period to purchase health insurance as provided for under the Affordable Care Act begins. That enrollment period continues through February 15, 2015. Some may qualify to enroll sooner if they have recently experienced some life-changing event. Help with enrollment is available, and financial assistance to pay for the coverage is also available for those who qualify. Find out more at healthcare.gov.

Football Week 5: Tonight the Dayton Broncos are at home hosting the Humble Wildcats. Both teams are 1-1 in District 21-5A. Kickoff is at 7 p.m. The Liberty Panthers celebrate homecoming with a visit from the Diboll Lumberjacks. That game kicks off at Memorial Stadium at 7:30. Both those games can be heard live on 99.9 fm or online at kshn.com. Also available online will be the Hardin Hornets as they travel to Woodville to challenge the undefeated Eagles. Kick off is 7:30 p.m. The Hull-Daisetta Bobcats go to Colmesneil to face the Bulldogs with a 7 p.m. kickoff. The Barbers Hill Eagles vs. the New Caney Eagles for a 7 p.m. kickoff at the Texan Drive Stadium in Porter. Clean Up: Tomorrow morning is annual cleanup day at the Highway 105 Trinity River bridge. Hosted by the Trinity River National Wildlife Refuge and Friends of the Trinity River Refuge. The event is tomorrow from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m.
