Dayton: Monday night the Dayton City Council held a public hearing on the proposed budget for fiscal year 2014-2015. That new budget year begins officially on October 1st. The proposed budget is set now at $13.4 million. The tax rate, if approved, would drop down to $0.69 from its current level of $0.7229 per $100 of market value. Council gave preliminary approval of the new budget but final approval will come on September 15. Formal approval of the proposed tax rate will come after two public hearings which are set for Sept. 2 and 8th.


Panther Tickets: Season tickets for the Liberty Panther's five 2014 varsity home football games are on sale now at the district's administration building. Those reserved season ticket seats that have not been sold by noon September 5, will be released for sale at the gate of Memorial Stadium. A season ticket is good for one seat at each of Liberty's home games. The five-game Panther package costs $25.

Texas Parks and Wildlife Department officials say the content is mostly the same as in the printed Outdoor Annual, but in a different layout and with added interactivity. Birthday Bash: The annual Lifeshare Blood Drive Birthday Bash in honor of longtime Liberty County Lifeshare Coordinator Dorothy Nettles is set. The event is coming up Friday September 5thfrom 2-7 p.m. at 1stBaptist Church in Dayton.
