Proposed CountyBudget: Liberty County Judge Craig McNair submitted his proposed county budget for fiscal year 2015 on Thursday morning.  The yet to be approved budget includes general fund, road and bridge and debt service and shows  total expenditures of $37.623 million, up from last years adopted budget of $37.204 million. In recent weeks, much attention has been paid to the budget of the Liberty County Sheriffs Department. The 2015 county budget proposed by Liberty County Judge Craig McNair not only does not increase the Sheriffs Department budget, it cuts law enforcement in Liberty County by nearly $300,000. This cut comes from the Capital Outlay category of the sheriffs’ budget. It drops from $569,000 last budget year to $160,000 for the new budget. In total, the sheriffs department budget was decreased by $279,144.
