Criminal Aliens: While much attention has been paid to the number of unaccompanied children illegally crossing our border with Mexico, what some believe may be a bigger problem has been increasing steadily over the years.  What officials call, criminal aliens. Those are who have crossed the border illegally, and gone on to commit crimes in the United States. State Representative John Otto said in the state of Texas alone, from 2008 to now, 200,000 criminal aliens have committed more than 640,000 crimes in Texas. He said currently Texas prisons house more than 14,000 illegal immigrants who have been sentenced for crimes committed in Texas.


Burnham Classic: The 25thAnnual Burnham Classic Golf Tournament benefiting Tri-County Services is this weekend, Friday through Sunday, at Magnolia Ridge County Club in Liberty. LC-EMS: Liberty County EMS was involved in an accident yesterday afternoon around 2:30, sending four to area hospitals. First reports indicate the ambulance turned over and was extensively damaged. Liberty County EMS Director Mike Koen said the two medics were taken to Memorial Hermann Hospital in serious but stable condition. The driver of the other vehicle and a student rider from the ambulance, were taken to Kingwood hospitals with minor injuries. The wreck happened at the intersection of FM 2518 at FM 787 just outside of Cleveland. The accident is being investigated by DPS.


Care ATC Clinic: We reported last week on the closing of the Liberty County Health Clinic in the Dayton Shopping Center. Liberty County officials said the company that operates the clinic for the county, Care ATC – based in Oklahoma, has lined up a doctor to work at the facility all day today and tomorrow, with hopes have having the same schedule next week while they work to find a permanent physician.


Obituaries: Charles Snyder, Sr., 99 of Liberty. Visitation will be Saturday at 1:15 at the Liberty First United Methodist Church. Funeral service will follow at 2 p.m.
