Fatality Accident: A Cypress man is dead following a traffic accident shortly before midnight Sunday on U.S. 59 near S. H. 105 in Cleveland. According to Cleveland Police Captain Scott Felts, a pickup truck was traveling northbound on U.S. 59 when it crashed into the center barrier. Witnesses report the driver, Thomas Celania, exited that truck and walked into the northbound traffic where he was then struck by an 18-wheel tractor-trailer. Mr. Celania was transported to Cleveland Regional Hospital where he was later pronounced dead by J.P. Pct 6 Ralph Fuller who ordered an autopsy.

Bus Drivers: You might not believe it, but the start of school isn't that far off. With that in mind, the Dayton Independent School District has some positions they need to fill. Mary Ellen Conner, DISD executive director for human resources, said they always need bus drivers. The bus fleet at DISD includes 66 buses, most of which are air conditioned - lucky drivers!  To learn more about becoming a bus driver at Dayton ISD, contact the human resources department at (936) 258-2667 at the school administration building. For others in other districts, you might contact them as well. Finding enough bus drivers is an ongoing process at most school districts.

Tax Holiday: Mark your calendars - the very popular annual back-to-school sales tax holiday is set for August 8 thru 10. That three-day period offers shoppers in Texas a chance to save money on certain back-to-school items that are priced under $100.

Batman Tourney: There's still time for golfers and sponsors to sign up for the Sixth Annual Ryan Batman Williams Foundation Golf Tournament. It's this Saturday at the famous Tour 18 golf course in Humble. Cost is $120 per player, and the field is limited to the first 144 golfers to register. To sign up or for more information, call (936) 336-0027 or go to
