Child Dies: A follow up on a tragic story we began reporting Sunday when a 2-year-old boy, Drake Nobles, was found in the water of an above ground family swimming pool. He was pulled from the water, CPR was administered and he was airlifted to Memorial Hermann Hospital in Houston. We have learned from Liberty County Sheriff’s Captain Ken Defoor the little boy died about 6 p.m. Tuesday at the hospital. The investigation is on-going, however at this point, nothing more is known.

AnahuacGolf Tournament: The Anahuac High School Engineering class is holding a fund raising golf tournament for their high altitude rocket to be tested at the White Sands Missile Range in New Mexico under the supervision of the U.S. Army. Only 6 high schools in the U.S. will attempt this project to launch a 21-foot rocket 100,000 feet in altitude and then recover it. This golf tournament to fund the effort will be at the Chambers County Golf Course. Players will pay a $50 entry fee. To sign up, contact Rocketry Instructor Kirk Moore at (713) 306 9868 by tomorrow. The tournament is June 27th.

Bookmobile: The Liberty ISD launched its new Summer Reading Bookmobile Tuesday with a stop at the Liberty Municipal Park Pavilion. Superintendent Dr. Cody Abshier told trustees that 42 kids showed up at that first stop. Today, the Bookmobile will be at the New Work Family Worship Center on Grand Ave. from 11 until noon. The Liberty LISD Summer Bookmobile will be making stops each Tuesday and Thursday.
