Election Results: Liberty County voters went to the polls yesterday to settle two local Republican Party Primary contests left undecided by majority vote. Unofficial results from the County Clerk's office for County Judge shows 2,112 votes for challenger Jay Knight and 2,077 for incumbent Craig McNair. In Liberty County Commissioners Precinct #4 unofficial totals show Leon Wilson with 746 votes and incumbent Norman Brown with 656 votes.


Hurricane Season: Hurricane season starts Sunday. That means the time to prepare is now. Liberty County Emergency Management Coordinator Tom Branch said preparations should include a family disaster plan and survival kit along with sufficient supplies to make it on your own for at least 72 hours after the strike. Gun Show: The Greater Cleveland Chamber of Commerce's 3rdLock and Load Gun Show is this weekend -  Saturday and Sunday at the Cleveland Civic Center. The show will feature gun dealers and collectors with a variety of guns, ammunition and accessories. There will also be knife exhibitors and other vendors offering training for concealed handgun licenses. The show is from 9-5 Saturday and 10 to 4 Sunday at the civic center on Peach Street. Admission is $5.00 per person.


All-District Baseball: 18 Liberty County boys have been named to the 2014 All-District 22-3A baseball team. Eight of those are Liberty Panthers. They are joined by five from both Tarkington and Cleveland. A tip of the hat to these Liberty County athletes honored as members of the All-District 22-3A baseball team.


LHS Honor Grads: The Liberty ISD Education Foundation released the top ten percent of the class of 2014 at Liberty High School. There are 134 seniors. Commencement will be Friday, June 6th, with ceremonies beginning at 8 p.m. at Memorial Stadium in Liberty. Salutatorian for the class of 2014 is Michael Seay, son of Karole Seay and Harold Seay. Number one graduating member of the LHS class is valedictorian Juhi Patel, daughter of Anita and Vijay Patel.
