Hardin Early Voting: Early voting is under way for the May 10thHardin School Election. In addition to a single contested school trustee position, Hardin ISD voters will be considering a $16.8 million bond proposal. Early voting is weekdays today through next Tuesday at the Hardin ISD Administration building. Today voting hours are 8 a.m. until 8 p.m. then, weekdays, tomorrow through next Tuesday, hours are 8 a.m. until 4 p.m. On Saturday, May 3rdearly voting is at the administration building from 7 a.m. until 7 p.m. Other early voting opportunities are Thursday May 1stand Tuesday May 6thfrom 5 p.m. - 8 p.m. at the high school cafeteria, as well as Sat. May 3rdfrom 9 a.m. until 4 p.m. at the Hardin Elementary school. For information, call (936) 298 2112.

Kidfish: Hundreds of kids gathered around the Liberty Municipal Park pond Sunday afternoon for the annual Kidfish. Nicholas Rios caught the biggest fish, 24 ½ inches for his age group, 6 and under. In the 7-11 age group Lillian McCreight reeled in the biggest fish of the day, a 25 ½ inch whopper. As for the 12 to 16-year-old category, it was Calli Callaway who took the top spot with her 22 7/8 inch catch. This year's Kidfish was again sponsored by BJ Ford and the Burnham family.

Day of Prayer: The 63rdannual observance of the National Day of Prayer is Thursday, and there are least two events scheduled here in Liberty County. In Cleveland, one will be held at noon at the historic old City Hall on East Boothe Street. Also at noon, at the Liberty County Courthouse there will be an observance on the south side of the courthouse building.

Dayton Golf: Another reminder, there is still time to sign up for this Friday's 14thAnnual Dayton Chamber of Commerce Golf Tournament at Eagle Point Golf Club in Mont Belvieu. Entry in the scramble-style golf tourney is $220 for a two-person team or $110 per player. To register, call the Dayton Chamber office at (936) 257 2393. The tournament is limited to the first 60 teams.
