Bellamy Scholars: Wednesday, First Liberty National Bank, manager of the Dr. Richard C. and Esther Bellamy Education Scholarship Trust announced this year'ss recipients. These four scholarships are for $11,750, divided over four years, $2,937.50 per year. The four recipients for 2014 are Bryan Daniel Granhold, a Dayton senior. Then, from Liberty, the Bellamy scholar is Sarah Elizabeth Herrington. Next is Alisha Jeanine Jones of Hull Daisetta and the fourth recipient is Allison Michelle Lee a Hardin High senior. With these four, the Bellamy Scholarships now total, over their 33 years, more than $1.7 million to 208 young people from south Liberty County.

LibertyCityCouncil: The Liberty City Council Tuesday night, approved the purchase of new playground equipment for the children's play area at Liberty Municipal Park. The equipment itself will cost $18,396 but the city will also be paying some $9,000 for assembly and installation of the equipment and additional money for the base of woodchips and wood bark to make the area safer for children.

Ole Tyme Days: A tradition at the Dayton Ole Tyme Days is the Little Miss and Mr. Dayton Ole Tyme Days Pageant. The contest is open to boys and girls six years and younger. Pageant Chair Julie Campbell said this year's theme, "Camo Cuties" allows for a lot of creativity. The cost to enter is $30 per child. HISD Bond Election: Hardin ISD is holding their final public meeting this evening to answer questions about the $16.8 million bond election set for May 10th. That meeting is this evening at 7 p.m. at North Main Baptist Church on Main Street in far north Liberty. Hardin ISD also has information on the district website.
