County Judge in Wreck: Liberty County Judge Craig McNair and his wife, Lisa, continue to recover from their injuries after being taken by air ambulance to a Houston hospital following a two-vehicle accident. That crash occurred at 12:15 a.m. Saturday on C.R. 603. Liberty County Sheriff's Office reports Craig McNair was northbound when a southbound vehicle - driven by 17-year-old German Mata - crossed over into Judge McNair's lane. Mata was said to be driving with flashing red and blue lights on his vehicle. German Mata reportedly left the scene and went to his home. Family members then drove his brother - Edgar Mata, 21 - to the crash site to claim responsibility. German Mata was arrested for Failure to Stop and Render Aid and other charges while Edgar Mata was jailed for Making a False Report to Law Enforcement and Public Intoxication. County Judge Craig McNair is said to be bruised and sore. Lisa McNair has undergone surgery for a broken leg.


Playoffs: Lady Broncos softball team faces Nederland in the playoffs. Game 1 of the best-of-three series is Friday at 7 p.m. in Dayton. Liberty Lady Panthers will face Hardin-Jefferson also best of 3. Game 1 is Thurs. - 7 p.m. in Hamshire. Dayton boys baseball team is in the playoffs, but no word on their opponent.


Egg Hunt: There was a large crowd gathered Saturday for the 31stAnnual KSHN Easter Egg Hunt in Liberty City Park. Kids 9 and under enjoyed picking up the 5,000 candy-filled plastic eggs plus the more than 90 prize eggs. There were also three grand prize eggs. The three big prize winners include Jazmin Villegas of Liberty who rode away on a new electric scooter. The next big winner was Shevie Tullos of Hardin. She chose the karaoke machine. The third large prize egg was found by Caleb Ingram of Liberty. He got the State Farm wagon. Thanks to Troop 64 Boys Scouts-Dayton, kids of First Baptist Church of Liberty, and city staff who helped get the hunt area ready. Also, a big tip of the hat to all the sponsors who make this annual event possible.
