Bikes for Christmas: Once again, the Liberty County Bikes for Christmas will be helping needy kids and their families have a happier holiday. For 12 years, the program has provided families in need locally with thousands of meals, as well as bikes and thousands of toys for the kids. Liberty County Bikes for Christmas gift giveaway is at the Dayton Community Center and invitations will be sent to families chosen. The program needs monetary help or donations of bikes and new unwrapped toys. Tax deductible donations can be dropped off at the Liberty County EMS Office in Daisetta, Milam Discount Tire in Liberty, the Dayton Community Center, and the Dayton Chamber of Commerce, the Liberty Dayton Area Chamber of Commerce or here a KSHN radio. DaytonSchoolBoard: The Dayton School Board Tuesday night, voted to purchase 25 new desktop computers for the computer lab at Nottingham Middle School Campus. The price tag is $16,664. Technology Director Suzanne Chachere said the new computers will replace aging equipment.


ChambersCounty: Work is under way to cover the 1,000 seat arena at Whites Park in Anahuac, financed by the Chambers County Commissioners Court and a generous gift from local industry Enterprise Products. The project includes putting the arena under roof, adding bathrooms, concession stands and improved parking at an expected cost of $2.6 million. Chambers County Extension Agent Tyler Fitzgerald said construction began in August and is expected to be completed in early spring.


Country Christmas: It’s less than two weeks away. The annual Liberty Dayton Area Chamber of Commerce Country Christmas celebration is Tuesday December 3rdin Liberty and then on Thursday December 5thin Dayton. Parade entries for the lighted Christmas Parade are being accepted now. Call the Chamber office for more information at (936) 336 5736.
