Trials: Jury selection begins today for two separate trials in the 75thDistrict Court of Mark Morefield. James Eric Loften, 43, is being tried on a charge of possession of a controlled substance with intent to deliver. We reported in April, James Loften was arrested by the Liberty Police Department following an investigation that lasted several months. Testimony in the case against James Loften could begin as early as this afternoon. Also facing trial in an unrelated case is 28-year-old Jeffrey Coker. He is charged with organized retail theft. That trial is expected to begin later this week at the conclusion of the Loften trial.


Blood Drive: Friday afternoon, there will be a blood drive at First Liberty National Bank’s community room known as FLNB Corner. According to Lifeshare’s Liberty County Community Liaison Dorothy Nettles, this will be a replenishment drive for Stephanie Perry, a former teacher at LHS. That blood drive is from 3:30to 7:30 p.m.No appointment is necessary. For information, call (936) 298 2689.


LeeCollege: Lee Collage Outreach Director, Cindy Fletcher said they are getting ready to implement programs this spring here in Liberty, to benefit, high school students, adults and the senior population of south LibertyCounty. Those include duel credit classes for high school students. These classes give credit for high school diplomas and towards college certificate or degree. In addition, Lee is working to start a basic computer class for adults as well as classes for the senior population. For information on any of these programs, contact (936) 334 1130.


Auction: The Annual Dayton NoonLions Club Radio Auction is this Thursday night here on KSHN Radio. Part one is Thursday from 6-9 p.m.Part two of the auction is Saturday from 9 noon.
