Commissioners: During yesterday's meeting, Liberty County Commissioners approved the policies and procedures for the new Liberty County Community Center. No rental fees have been set, but the policies closely follow those in place at other such facilities around the area. Commissioners also approved the division of their 1436 votes for the Central Appraisal District Board of Directors for 2014-2015. Those votes were divided as 650 for Kevin Ladd, 250 for Ronnie Danner, 200 for Bob Edwards, and 100 for John Hebert Jr. Each governmental entity in the county is awarded votes based on appraised value.  They then use their votes to seat the board member of their choice.

SOLO: LibertyCounty District Attorney Logan Pickett said in late October members of the Sex Offender Location Operation Team, or SOLO, conducted a compliance check of registered sex offenders in Liberty County.  The teams checked on 17 registered offenders to verify that they still in fact live at the address they provided to law enforcement. The compliance check found 10 of those were in compliance, they were unable to make contact with four of those they sought and finally, three of the registered sex offenders on the list of 17 were found not to be in compliance with registration requirements. The DA’s office said follow-up investigations will be done on the three. According to the Texas Department of Public Safety, there are approximately 293 registered sex offenders in Liberty County.
