Chase: Two men were arrested Tuesday following a high speed chase near the ClevelandHigh School. The Liberty County Sheriffs Department reports, Nelson Lopez age 19 and Luis Nolasco, 26, were pulled over during a traffic stop. The passenger, Luis Nolaso, jumped out of, and then back into the car. At that time, deputies saw what they believed to be a gun stuck into the back of his belt.  The driver sped away and the pursuit began, nearing speeds of 100 mph before the suspect vehicle crashed near the high school. A gun, reported as stolen from HarrisCounty, was found in the vehicle. Both men are in the Liberty County Jail. At last report, no bond had been set.

Liquor by Drink: Voters in the City of Libertyvoted to allow the legal sale of all alcoholic beverages. John Hebert Jr., a member of the group that spearheaded the effort, said passage does not mean just anyone will be able to sell alcoholic drinks. Businesses still must be licensed by the Texas Alcoholic Beverage Commission. In addition, the change in city ordinance means with a state license liquor stores can now be operated within the city limits of Liberty.

Barbers Hill Bond: Voters in the BarbersHillIndependentSchool Districtoverwhelmingly approved a $60 million bond package on Tuesday. According to district officials, the bond passed with 83 % support. Barbers Hill ISD Superintendent Dr.Greg Poole said those funds will be used for facility, security and technology improvements.

Turkeysfor Sale: The Liberty Volunteer Fire Department is holding a fundraising turkey sale. Orders must be made by November 22, for either a fried or smoked turkey to be picked up just in time for Thanksgiving.  The cost of a fried turkey is $45 and a smoked turkey is less at $35. To order a turkey, call the fire department business number at (936) 336 3922. Pick up date is Wednesday November 27th, at the fire department on Lakeland Drivein Liberty.
