LISD Election: During the Liberty school board meeting Tuesday night, trustees canvassed results from Saturday’s Tax Ratification Election, confirming the measure passed with 90.5 percent of voters saying yes. Of the 484 total votes tallied, 438 LISD voters said yes with just 46 voting against the tax-rate change. Also Tuesday, the Liberty school board voted 5-2 to switch how trustees are elected from at-large to by-position.


TVE: The 105thTrinity Valley Exposition Fair and Rodeo rolls on today through Saturday. The PRCA Rodeo is nightly at 7:30 followed by a free dance. Carnival rides are spinning again today and tomorrow from 5 p.m. to midnight and again on Saturday from 11 a.m. to midnight. Judging in the TVE Youth Livestock Show continues today in the arena with commercial heifers and market steers. It all comes down to tomorrow’s big Youth Livestock Auction. First, the buyer’s luncheon is tomorrow morning at 11:00. Then, Ed Phillips will raise the hammer to start the auction around 12:30. KSHN will be broadcasting from our studio at the fairgrounds. We’ll also bring you the Grand and Reserve champion portion of the TVE Youth Livestock Auction tomorrow from the arena.


TVE Results: More results from 2013 TVE Youth Livestock Show. Grand Champion broilers was shown by Jessica Parham, Barbers Hill 4-H. Reserve Champion broiler honors went to Savannah Bautsch with Hull-Daistta FFA. Turning to market rabbits, the Grand Champion pen was shown by Cameron Swonke while Wyatt Rakestraw is Reserve Champion in bunnies. Grand Champion Market Pig went to Natalee Kunk –Barbers Hill FFA while Hannah Dodson with Eastgate 4-H had the Reserve Champion.


Chamber Luncheon: The Liberty-Dayton Area Chamber of Commerce’s monthly luncheon is next Wednesday, Oct. 23, in the Liberty Center at City Hall. Next Wednesday’s lunch will be from Quizno’s in Liberty for $10 a person. For reservations, call the Liberty-Dayton Area Chamber at 936-336-5736,
