TVE Opening Day: The 105thTrinity Valley Exposition Fair and Rodeo continues tomorrow morning at 10 with the opening Day Parade down Main Street in Liberty. Then it’s over to the fairgrounds for all of the other great TVE activities, including the youth livestock show, a bigger than ever carnival and exciting rodeo action. Parade activities begin with the Kiddie Trail Ride. That gets under way at 8 a.m. on the Pickett Ranch on State Highway 146 at FM 1011. There will be hay wagons for those who do not have horses and the trail ride follows the parade thru downtown.

LISD Public Hearing: The Libertyschool board will hold a public hearing tonight to get input on the possibility of changing how trustees are elected from at-large to by position races. Tonight’s LISD board agenda also calls for possible action following that hearing. The move comes several months after a U.S. Supreme Court ruling said governmental entities in nine states, including Texas, no longer have to get pre-approval to make such changes. Back in October 2009, the LISD board voted 4-3 to change from at-large to position. However, the DOJ never gave the, then required, pre-clearance to that proposal. The meeting starts at 6 p.m.and is open to the public.
