Two Vehicle Crash: No serious injuries were reported after a two vehicle crash on Hwy. 321 in Dayton Sunday afternoon. Dayton police Chief John Headrick said Alesia Bean, of Baytown pulled out of Calhoun’s Grocery at 2:05 p.m. and into the path of an oncoming vehicle. Inside the woman’s SUV six children, ages 8 months to 13 years, were taken to Liberty Dayton Regional Medial Center, mostly as a precaution. Neither the driver of the other vehicle, Olster Wheat of Tarkington nor his wife, required medical treatment. Dayton Police cited Alesia Bean, for failing to yield the right-of-way.


Dumpster Fire: City of Liberty Fire Fightersmade short work of a dumpster fire early Sunday afternoon. Around 12:30 p.m.firefighters were called to a fire behind Baskins Clothing Store. There were no injuries and damage was limited to the dumpster itself, some electrical wiring and a monitoring device at the back of the building. City of Libertyelectric crews have completed repairs to the wiring. Cause of the fire is under investigation.  The dumpster is very close to the back of the building.


New LISD CFO: LibertyISD has hired Julie Hebert of Libertyto be the district’s new Chief Financial Officer. We’ve reported longtime CFO Margaret Lee has been hired by Texas City ISD to be that district’s assistant superintendent of business and operations. Friday evening, Libertyschool trustees approved hiring Julie Hebert who has served as the chief financial officer at Hardin ISD since 2009. Liberty ISD, Texas City ISD and Hardin ISD are working together to make sure the transition is as easy as possible for each district.


TVE Appreciation: Tomorrow night is the annual Trinity Valley Exposition Appreciation Dinner at the fairgrounds. It’s where the volunteers, sponsors and committee members who make TVE such a huge success every year are honored. In addition, it is also when the recipient of the cherished E.B. Baker Award for outstanding volunteerism is named. Again, all volunteers, sponsors and committee members are invited and urged to attend. Serving gets under way at 6:30 p.m.
