Proposed Annexation: The Liberty City Council is moving forward on a proposed plan to annex property that includes all the way to the Moss Bluff Gas Storage Facility some 12 miles south of US 90 on FM 563. Three years in the making, the annexation proposal was recommended by Council Member Frank Jordan. It would take in a 1,000 foot wide strip encompassing both sides of the Trinity Riverand moving south east of the present city limits, following the river then turning to envelop the Gas Storage Facility. Frank Jordan said Central Appraisal District records show the 2013 property value of the proposed area to be annexed by the City of Libertyat just under $155 million. At the present tax rate that could generate revenue estimated at $913,000. Liberty’s economic development board recommends that, in fairness, those taxes be phased in over years
