Hit and Run: As of Sunday afternoon, there was no new information available on the hit and run fatality that claimed the life of 22-year-old Tydius Mouton early Friday morning.  The Libertyman was struck while walking along Hwy 90 in Amesnear the intersection of Sexton St.  Witnesses report he was hit by an eastbound white van.  Anyone with information is asked to call the DPS Office in Liberty(936) 336 4583or the Liberty Co. Sheriffs Dept. (936) 336 4500.


Liberty Police Station: Liberty City Manger Gary Broz, speaking recently to the Liberty Rotary Club, said the city received more than a dozen construction bids on the proposed 10,000 square foot new Liberty Police Station. City Manger Gary Broz said the budget for the new facility is $2.5 million and negotiations are underway on a final agreement. The Liberty Police Department has been located in small modular buildings behind the city fire department since Hurricane Ike destroyed the old police station downtown in 2008.


Join 4-H:  The Liberty Co. 4-H starts new year of activities soon. Extension Agent Alexis Cordova said kids nine and older, can sign up online starting Aug.1st. Ms. Cordova extends a   countywide invite to families to be involved in local 4-H Fun Day set for Sat. Aug. 17th,2 to 8 p.m. at Calvary Baptist Church on FM 1960 in Dayton. Job Fair: The Free Job Fair hosted by the DaytonCommunity Centeris this Thursday from 9 a.m.until noon. Facilities Director Amanda Wilson said there is still time for prospective employers to participate. Job seekers should come dressed for interviews and bring resumes and a pen.
