Commissioners Court: On Tuesday, Liberty County Commissioners renewed the real estate listing agreement with Dan VanDeventer for six months. Mr. VanDeventer is the agent for the real estate listing on the old Wal-Mart store. It is currently found on the commercial property website, www.loopnet.comat a price of $1.8 million. Commissioners also extended the countywide ban against outdoor burning in the unincorporated areas of the county.


Hospital District Meeting: Early this year, Dayton Council had requested property tax money collected by the hospital district be transferred to their city, to be used for a medical facility. The Hospital District Board said it was not legal to transfer tax money to another taxing entity. Thursday night, the attorney hired by the city of Daytonconfirmed that claim. Sandy Hellums said there were options open to the hospital district to use tax money to help fund a Dayton medical facility, though she agreed with hospital district officials that they could not legally transfer funds directly to another taxing entity.


DaytonTeen Missing in Michigan: The Kalamazoo County Sheriffs Department in Michiganis searching for a DaytonTexasteenager.  According to several Michigannews organizations, 16-year-old Billy King was last seen when he went for a walk around 9 p.m.last Friday.  He and his family were at a family reunion in the area of Richland, near Kalamazoo. Police are reporting to Michigannews media they were able to determine the Daytonboy had arranged to meet someone from the northeast portion of Michigan.


DaytonFFA: Members of the Dayton Future Farmers of America Chapter attended the 85thAnnual State FFAConvention last week in the DallasConvention Center. Those students from Daytonreceiving their Lone Star FFAdegrees at the Texas Convention were Scott Chachere, Jaclyn Robinson, Mikey Dubois and Keith Klimichek.
