Fatality Accident: According to the Texas Department of Public Safety, a southbound 18-wheel tractor-trailer driven by Cameron Strahler of Georgia was making a left-hand turn from Highway 321 shortly after 9 p.m. Sunday. Reports are that’s when a motorcyclist attempted to pass the turning 18-wheeler but struck the big rig instead. Justice of the Peace Pct 5 Wade Brown held an inquest and pronounced 51 year old Sidney Scott Cleveland of Dayton dead at the accident scene. DPS Trooper Schmidt’s report shows Cleveland was not wearing a helmet at the time of Sunday night’s fatal accident.

Burnham Classic: The 24thAnnual Burnham Classic golf tournament, benefiting Tri-County Services is coming up August 2-4 at Magnolia Ridge County Club. Bruce Burnham said this year’s tourney is being held in memory of his father, J.C. Burnham, who passed away in late October. Hole sponsorships are $250 and general sponsorships are $100. Both entitle the sponsor and one guest to all functions except golf. Entry for golfers into the two-man scramble is $550.
