Town Hall Meeting: The Dayton City Council will hold a town hall meeting next Thursday July 11thto publicly discuss the operations of the Liberty County Hospital District #1. Dayton City Manager David Douglas said the purpose of the meeting is to make public the results of what is said to be an independent review done by the city of Dayton’s outside legal and audit firms. City Manager David Douglas said the meeting is open to everyone, not just Dayton residents. The meeting begins at 7 p.m. in the Dayton Community Center.


Supply Roundup: School supplies can be costly, and some families can’t afford to provide their children with the tools they need. Liberty County 4-H is holding a School Supply Roundup during the month of July. Liberty County Extension Agent Alexis Cordova said the 4-H kids need both monetary gifts and donations of actual school supplies. Donations can be dropped off all month during regular business hours at the Liberty County Extension Office, 501 Palmer Ave. in Liberty. Panther Baseball Camp: On Monday, the Liberty Panther Summer Baseball Camp takes to the field at 9 the city park. Liberty’s new Head Baseball Coach Will Joiner said instructors will be teaching the fundamentals of baseball while building camper’s self-confidence. The camp is for kids age 5 to 14. The cost is $60 per camper. All campers should bring their own equipment. They can buy lunch and drinks or bring their own. For information call Will Joiner at (832) 444 2912.


Food Pantry BBQ: The Dayton Community Food Pantry is holding a barbecue fund raiser Saturday, July 27 at the Brookshire Brothers parking lot in Dayton. Whole briskets are $45 each and must be pre-ordered by July 24. Plate lunches and sandwiches will be for sale on July 27th. For information, call the Dayton Food Pantry at (936) 334 2160.
