Dog Mauling: A Dayton woman, Linda Oliver, age 63 is dead following an attack by a stray dog the family had been feeding for a couple of weeks. Law enforcement was called yesterday morning just after 10 a.m. by a man who said his wife called him at work telling him she’d been bit. Then the phone line went dead. When law enforcement and Emergency Medical Services arrived, they were confronted by what was described as a vicious dog inside the fenced yard surrounding the home on CR 6478 in the West Woodland Hills Subdivision. Sheriffs Captain Ken DeFoor said Deputy James McQueen Jr., shot the dog three times before it escaped under a fence and disappeared into the woods. Deputy McQueen described it as a long haired, lab type dog, black with white on its chest and covered in blood. The victim, Linda Oliver, was found dead in her home. Justice of the Peace Precinct #4 Barry Graves held an inquest and ordered an autopsy. The SO is urging residents of that area to be on the look out for this dog. Do not approach the animal, call 9-1-1.
