Bank Burglary: Liberty County Sheriff’s Department is asking for the public’s help in locating a person of interest in connection with last Wednesday’s burglary at the Hull State Bank location in Hull. Captain Ken DeFoor said investigators are looking for Luther Don Whitmire, a 42-year-old white male. They are also trying to locate Kala Jenee Moor, age 27. She is thought to be with Whitmire. Captain DeFoor said Moor is either a possible victim or also a person of interest. Whitmire is described as 5 feet 6 inches tall and 170 pounds with blonde hair and blue eyes. He is thought to be driving a 2009 maroon Ford Fusion with Texas LP SNP 066. Anyone with information is asked to call the sheriff’s office at (936) 336 4500.


DaytonTown Hall: The Dayton City Council will hold a town hall meeting Thursday July 11 to publicly discuss operations of the Liberty County Hospital District #1. City Manager David Douglas said the purpose of the town hall meeting is to give the public a chance to air any concerns or questions about the Liberty County Hospital District. The meeting will be at 7 p.m. at the Dayton Community Center. All interested citizens are encouraged to attend.


Special Guest Star at Opry: The Liberty Opry will host 1950s and 60s recording superstar Jimmy Clanton for one show only this Saturday afternoon at 2. The Louisiana native is best known for such hits at “Venus in Blue Jeans”, “Go, Jimmy Go” and his biggest hit “Just a Dream”. Tickets are $35 each. For groups of 12 or more, tickets are $32 each. Legally Blond: The Valley Players Community Theatre will present “Legally Blond, The Musical” for the next two weekends at the Humphreys-Burson Theater in Liberty. This hilarious take on the popular movie follows sorority girl Elle Woods as she attends Harvard Law School.  Tickets are $10 each.
