Mayo Drops Suit: Liberty ISD board member Ron Mayo withdrew his lawsuit against Liberty school district yesterday morning in the 253rdDistrict Court of Judge Chap Cain. Judge Cain had issued a temporary restraining order halting part of the punishment handed out by district administrators following a fight involving Mayo’s son. Late yesterday morning, Judge Cain told attorneys for both parties they could talk it out or fight it out. With that, the negotiations began. Later, Mayo’s attorney withdrew that lawsuit. For some background, the discipline handed out was already reviewed by Superintendent Dr. Cody Abshier during a level 2 grievance. He upheld LHS Assistant John Welp’s ruling.  If the Mayos’ choose, a Level 3 grievance will follow, going before the Liberty school board concerning the discipline that was handed down.
